NME.com is running another world wide poll to find the ‘Greatest Indie Anthem of The Millennium.’ Alice Practice by Crystal Castles is one of many choices listed that does not seem strong enough to sit alongside, say, The Strokes’ Last Night. Many songs nominated for this award literally could not be less indie. Their list is so ridiculous I found myself asking around all morning to check if I was crazy. Since when are The Bravery, Coldplay, and Oasis indie contenders? I guess when you work at a big shiny music magazine anything that isn’t Take That seems like college rock.

THE BLUEPRINT 3

It’s true, for sure. Jay-Z is recording yet another album, The Blueprint 3. He is currently in his New York studio working with Sean C, LV, and of course, Kanye West on his 11th LP on Def Jam. Could it be as good as (his “retirement” project) The Black Album? Could it be a full length Oasis diss record? Maybe. Jay voiced his frustrations concerning less than flattering remarks made by Noel Gallagher again this Wednesday night during a surprise guest appearance at Kanye‘s Glow In The Dark tour at Madison Square Garden. The crowd got a taste of Blueprint 3 as “HOV” took the stage for nearly 30 minutes begging with a track produced by Kanye called Jockin’ Jay-Z . The music plays and Jay starts rapping “That bloke from Oasis said I couldn’t play guitar // somebody shoulda told him I’m a f*cking rock star / today is gonna be the day that I’m gonna throw it back to you.”
