Due to a technicality, The Eagles are on top of the Billboard charts, as they should be. They sold 400,000 more copies of their album than Britney did. However, had the same two albums been released two weeks prior Britney’s Blackout would be sitting pretty at the top of the Billboard 200.

Last week Billboard changed the way it figures the charts. The difference is: now all record sales are counted. The old way of calculating the charts did not include albums that were being sold exclusively through one single retailer, which in this case is WAL-MART. I don’t know if this is a preview or if it will always be offered exclusively through their store only but as of right now they are the only store who can legally distribute the new Eagles album. I never thought Yo-ster would report an Eagles story but here we are.

Blackout is the number one album downloaded on ITunes, making her the top digital downloaded artist this week. Alicia Keys’ release this Tuesday November 13th featuring the hit single No One will likely outsell Britney and The Eagles. Alicia Keys’ No One is number one on the Hot 100 Airplay charts. Britney’s sales will probably drop as she is not getting much radio love for Gimme More. Blackout is selling about half as well as her last LP, In The Zone.Britney has asked Z100 (ny 100.3 radio station I grew up with) to help her pick the next single. Reports are saying that Break The Ice will be the next single from Blackout. I knew it! I’m really pleased although I would have been happy with Get Naked as a follow up single because I know the choreography is going to be really sick on that video. “Hearts beating like an 808!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
